When buying fresh fish, buy British and make sure it's fresh and not frozen. You can ask for your whole, fresh tilapia to be gutted and descaled at your fish counter.

How do I store tilapia? |
Store your fish in the refrigerator. If you need to travel far from the shop to your home, place the fish in a cool bag. Fresh tilapia can be stored for two days in a cool refrigerator (32-38°F / 0-3°C).

Can I freeze tilapia? |
Fresh tilapia wrapped in plastic can be stored up to four months in the freezer (0°F / -18°C). Frozen tilapia should be thawed in the refrigerator, not at room temperature. Do not re-freeze thawed tilapia.
